How will you help drive the future of natural gas?
Responsible for developing, cultivating and managing strategic relationships with elected officials, governmental staff, business and community leaders, economic development organizations and customers. This position promotes corporate earnings growth through strategic government, economic and stakeholder engagement initiatives. It supports operations including permits, franchise agreements, outreach on infrastructure projects, assistance with customer matters and emergency response functions.
What you need to succeed
A minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution.
At least eight years of related experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Frequent travel and flexibility to work outside normal business hours.
Reside in Southwest Florida region.
Knowledge of government processes at local, state or federal level.
Ability to understand complex regulatory and legislative issues; knowledge of the utility sector.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Primary duties & responsibilities
Strategically manage key governmental, political and industry relationships in assigned areas, shaping positive outcomes and establishing open communication channels.
Represent corporate interests on key economic development organizations to promote earnings and community growth.
Provide strategic guidance on community and corporate citizenship contributions, board involvement and communication strategies.
Develop strategies to advise the company on regional candidates for elected office and participate actively in the political process.
Gather and communicate relevant political, community and business intelligence to support growth opportunities.
Provide tactical support to operations/business units on elevated issues related to local municipal governments including rights‑of‑way access, permitting, franchise agreements, facility relocation, emergencies and local government policy.
Review strategic initiatives and projects for potential stakeholder/community concerns and lead community outreach efforts.
Consult on upcoming infrastructure projects, reviewing plans to identify potential community concerns and provide outreach recommendations.
What will give you a competitive edge
A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Business or related field.
Six years of related experience.
Experience in the electric or gas utility industry dealing with local governments, regulatory agencies and public policy; or experience working for a local or state elected official, municipality or agency.
Knowledge of the utility sector.

Incident response assignment
Peoples Gas relies on its team members to respond swiftly and effectively to incidents such as major storms, gas leaks, equipment failures and other emergencies. The Regional Manager may be assigned responsibilities related to emergency response and participate in training and mock drills.
