Social Media Intern

The primary role of this position is to support and strengthen our organization’s social media presence and help further our commitment to strengthening our communities and expanding awareness of our brand. To achieve this mission, the position must deliver high quality service to both internal and external audiences. A key component of this role is attending events and activities to capture photos and videos and create engaging social media content designed to increase viewership, engagement, and growth across our social media platforms.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Capture professional photo and video content at credit union events, community outreach activities, member engagements, and organizational functions for use across social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other digital channels.
30%
Create, edit, and publish engaging social media content, including posts, reels, stories, and short‑form videos that align with the credit union’s brand, values, and community‑focused mission while increasing audience engagement and viewership.
15%
Assist with maintaining the credit union’s social media presence by monitoring platform activity, responding appropriately to engagement as directed, and helping ensure content remains professional, accurate, and aligned with organizational standards.

Collaborate with marketing and internal teams to support campaigns, promote financial education initiatives, highlight community involvement, and strengthen brand awareness across digital platforms.

Perform other duties as assigned.

To practice, promote, and support the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the CU and to ensure they are carried out by each employee.
Consistently captures and delivers high‑quality photo and video content that reflects the CU’s brand and professionalism.
Maintains timely creation and posting of social media content across platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
Demonstrates creativity and initiative in developing engaging content that increases audience interaction, reach, and viewership.
Ensures all social media content aligns with organizational messaging, branding standards, and compliance expectations.
Exhibits professionalism and strong communication skills while interacting with employees, members, and community partners during events and activities.
Effectively collaborates with marketing and internal teams to support campaigns, community outreach efforts, and organizational goals.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
One month to twelve months of similar or related experience.
Education
A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills
Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts within the organization. Contact involves routine, non-sensitive issues. Member or vendor contact is limited to incidental contact.
Other Skills
Must have outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking.
Proficiency in preparing and delivery professional presentations is essential. Must be proficient in various software programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Prior experience in credit union or financial industry is a plus.

Must be able to work on Saturdays and travel independently. Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
Vision requirements include: close vision and the ability to focus. Nature of the position requires physical mobility and the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds.
Full‑time employees are required to complete (16) hours of volunteerism and (8) hours for part‑time employees. All volunteer time has to be approved prior to event. In addition, needs to benefit or have an impact in Harris County.
