Position Overview
The CETL Communication Specialist is responsible for developing and executing a cohesive communication strategy to engage our primary stakeholders: the faculty. Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Program Coordinator, this role focuses on increasing CETL’s visibility, fostering faculty relationships, and ensuring professional brand consistency across all digital and print platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day management of CETL’s social media accounts, ensuring a consistent posting schedule and brand voice.
Identify opportunities to expand the office’s digital footprint and reach new faculty demographics.
Analyze monthly performance metrics; deliver actionable reports that use data to improve engagement and reach.
Produce the CETL e-newsletter, including original content writing, layout design, and distribution management.
Design high-quality promotional assets (flyers, digital banners, social graphics) for CETL workshops, grants, and programs.
Ensure all materials align with institutional branding and accessibility standards.
Develop integrated communication plans for “Signature Events,” managing timelines for announcements and reminders.
Provide on-site or virtual communication support during events, which may include live-tweeting, photography, or managing attendee inquiries.
Serve as a professional point of contact for communication-related inquiries.
Advise CETL leadership on emerging communication trends and tools to better reach a busy faculty audience.
Communicate teaching excellence to internal and external audiences.
Required Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), social media management tools, and design platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
Expertise: Demonstrated ability to translate complex academic information into engaging, digestible content.
Self-Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently in a hybrid work environment.
