Responsibilities

The Music Coordinator coordinates the station’s music rotation and creates comprehensive album reviews for publication. They work with music industry contacts to solicit albums to be screened for the station’s rotation, ensure music is screened throughout the week and ready for upload by Monday, maintain the KRUA physical and digital libraries, chart KRUA’s rotation on College Music Journal every Tuesday by 11 a.m., recruit volunteers to fill the genre director positions, prepare weekly album reviews, post reviews to the website, ensure charts are sent to The Northern Light before Thursday, host the weekly broadcast of “Edge Essentials,” update KRUA programming clocks weekly, report playlists to the KRUA Program Director or, in their absence, the Station Manager, and maintain a consistent presence on the KRUA website and social media accounts. The position reports to the Program Director and provides weekly updates to the Station Manager.
Qualifications

Candidates must have an understanding of FCC regulations, experience with station equipment, on‑air broadcast, digital audio production, training and working with staff and volunteers, effective communication skills, experience in social media promotion, and knowledge of software such as Adobe Audition or Audacity, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and RCS programs.
Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of college courses at a minimum of sophomore status.
Willingness to obtain a working knowledge of ethical standards of the media industry and First Amendment rights.
Completion of the first two KRUA volunteer trainings within 3 months of beginning the position.
Eligibility as a University of Alaska student: admitted and enrolled in a degree‑seeking program with a minimum of six credit hours per semester, or have completed the preceding semester with six or more credit hours and plan to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester.
Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, 2.5 term GPA, or obtain approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer.
Students in non‑traditional programs considered eligible with approval from the Senior Student Services officer.
Provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
Position reappointment contingent upon successful progress toward degree completion and performance evaluation.
Position Details

This is a Student Assistant 2 position working about 20 hours per week during the academic year, with potentially more hours in the summer. The pay is $13.03 per hour. This position is open to undergraduate students only.
