Associate Director, F135 & Sustainment Communications – Role Summary
The RTX Global Communications team is seeking a seasoned strategic communications leader to serve as Associate Director, F135 & Sustainment Communications, supporting Pratt & Whitney Military Engines. Reporting to the Senior Director of Military Engines Communications, this role is responsible for leading integrated communications for the F135 propulsion system—powering the F‑35 Lightning II—and for the Military Engines Sustainment organization. The Associate Director will shape and deliver clear, consistent messaging that reflects program priorities, modernization initiatives and global sustainment operations. The role requires the ability to translate complex technical and operational information into compelling narratives that inform, engage and influence customers, employees and key stakeholders. This leader will drive communications strategy across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations. The position also requires strong strategic judgment, superior writing and project management skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high‑visibility environment. In addition, the Associate Director will provide day‑to‑day leadership for other communications campaigns and priorities, as assigned.
What You Will Do
Lead integrated communications for the F135 program and Military Engines Sustainment
Provide strategic counsel to senior program and sustainment leaders
Shape clear, consistent messaging on technical, operational and program priorities
Drive communications for global sustainment, fleet performance and modernization
Develop messaging and materials for government customers, industry partners and internal audiences
Support executive communications, high visibility campaigns and key program milestones
Contribute to media strategy, public affairs efforts and coordinated external responses
Strengthen internal communications to align employees with program objectives
Collaborate closely with cross functional teams and Communications Centers of Excellence
Ensure all communications efforts align with business priorities and stakeholder expectations

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
Extensive experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other technical industries, with familiarity in supporting U.S. Government programs
Proven expertise in executive communications, media relations, and managing communications in dynamic, high-visibility environments
Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for all audiences
Proven leadership in brand strategy, high-profile campaigns, cross-functional initiatives, and communications operations, including narrative development and project management
Proficiency in digital communications strategies, social media platforms, and leveraging them effectively
Collaborative, detail-oriented professional with sound judgment, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results
