Salary Placement: The position is on a local schedule and will be placed on the local salary schedule at the President's discretion earning between $20-$30/hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Sports Information and Communication Specialist is responsible for coordinating and promoting all athletic communications for the institution. This role oversees the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of sports statistics, records, and media content, and serves as the primary liaison between athletic teams, media outlets, and the public. The position answers directly to the Athletic Director and must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the main contact for all external communication with media for the NACC Athletic Program and the Athletic Director
Oversee athletic program communications for all sports teams including, but not limited to, press releases, promotional stories, game previews, post-game reviews, and statistics.
Write informative and meaningful pregame and post-game stories and other feature stories as assigned to promote NACC athletics
Coordinate media credential distribution for all NACC athletic events
Maintain accurate statistics, historical records, and player information for all sports teams
Be responsible for monitoring and updating the NACC athletic website and social media platforms, ensuring that information is posted professionally and accurately and follows all NACC branding and website formatting requirements.
Serve as the main contact for the Alabama Community College Conference (i.e. player of the week, all region teams, all American Teams)
Produce and edit annual preseason review and season in review stories for all NACC athletic teams
Ensure compliance with conference and national reporting requirements
Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
Complete other assignments as requested by the Athletic Director and/or the President
Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Experience in communications, journalism, public relations, sports management, or a related field
Demonstrated excellent writing skills
General knowledge of college athletics rules and structure
Ability to work efficiently with social media and website software
Ability to work efficiently with photography, graphic design, and editing tools/software
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet communication deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively and work professionally with internal and external partners
Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED is

required
Experience working in journalism or public relations is

preferred
Writing experience is
