Political Producer

Responsibilities
As a Political Producer, you’ll serve as the heart of a strong brand. You’ll lead the charge on driving political news coverage and determining the most important stories of the day. You'll collaborate with colleagues to tell the news that matters in your community and around the country, making decisions about what to air and when, and how to keep our audience informed on key issues impacting the state.

What Our Producers Enjoy Most

Developing an in-depth understanding of political, local, and breaking news

Creating shows that attract and hold audiences’ attention and break down complex political happenings to show audiences why it matters to them

Transforming stories from a simple pitch into a hit that inspires and delights viewers

Collaborating with colleagues to determine what goes on air

Required Qualifications

2+ years experience in television news

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience

Knowledge of social media platforms and basic editing skills (Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro)

Go-getter personality and excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills

Open to travel to discover important stories in your neighbourhood and willing to interact with the community

Ability to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems

May be required to lift up to five pounds

Working Conditions

Primarily works inside a climate‑controlled environment throughout the year but may be assigned field duties on occasion

Semi‑noisy newsroom setting
