Job Description
Sound Technician/Engineer
Responsibilities
Set up all audio equipment, including instruments, speakers, microphones, and audio boards, before Sunday service once doors are unlocked.
Conduct a soundcheck and rehearsal (typically 9:45 AM – 10:15 AM) with the A/V Team and Music Ministry (including Chakra our band).
Manage the live audio mix for the physical worship room.
Manage a separate broadcast mix concurrently for livestreaming on platforms such as Restream, YouTube and Facebook Live.
Calibrate sound, ensure it is muted as scheduled, and manage audio transitions for the Musical Prelude, Musical Inspirations, and all speaking parts of the service.
Start and manage the audio components of the live stream for the pre-service announcement slideshow and the main service.
Review the Media Check List weekly upon arrival and post it in the media room.
Participate in weekly A/V team meetings to test and maintain all audio equipment.
Participate in weekly staff meetings.
Normal Media/A/V Tasks
Oversee and manage all audio systems for Sunday worship services and special events.
Test and maintain all audio equipment to ensure quality and prevent technical issues.
Provide audio support for ministry-related events and parties as needed, such as annual concerts and holiday services.
Requirements
Experience and Technical Skills
Proven experience in live sound engineering and audio mixing, preferably within a house of worship or live event venue environment.
Advanced knowledge and technical aptitude for setting up, operating, testing, and maintaining a wide range of audio equipment, including digital mixing consoles, microphones, speakers, and audio boards.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing separate, simultaneous audio mixes, specifically for a live worship room and a concurrent broadcast/live stream feed.
Strong knowledge of audio signal flow and acoustics, with the ability to calibrate sound accurately, manage audio transitions, and adhere to a tight schedule like a "Run of Show".
Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills to quickly identify and resolve technical issues during live events or broadcasts (e.g., feedback, distortion, equipment malfunction).
Education and Training (Preferred)
A degree, associate’s degree, HND, or vocational certification in Audio Engineering, Sound Production, Music Technology, or a related technical field is desirable.
Soft Skills and Attributes
Exceptional attention to detail and a keen ear for critical listening to ensure the highest quality audio for all elements of the service.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for close collaboration with the Operations Manager, A/V Team, and Music Ministry.
Ability to work well under pressure, remain calm, and adapt quickly in a live production setting where timing and continuity are essential.
Dependability and flexibility, with the capacity to work a fixed weekly schedule that includes soundchecks and full services on Sundays, as well as occasional special events.
Collaborating with the Director of Music Arts to ensure a cohesive audio-visual experience for all musical performances.
Ensuring audio compliance and flow according to the weekly Run of Show schedule.
