Position Overview
As a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at Spectrum News, you will uncover stories that matter in the community, pitch, write, shoot, interview, and edit content for TV, connected television, and digital platforms. You will collaborate with a fast‑paced team to deliver timely, accurate coverage.
What You’ll Do
Investigate and report community stories, interviewing stakeholders and residents.
Pitch ideas, write scripts, shoot video, and edit footage for broadcast and digital releases.
Work across TV, connected television, and the Spectrum News app to share stories.
Meet flexible deadlines, including breaking news, severe weather, and weekend/holiday coverage.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of television news reporting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proficiency shooting video, editing with industry software, and using social media.
Strong on-camera communication and written storytelling skills.
Curiosity, urgency, and ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Open to travel within the newsroom’s coverage area.
Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended periods during breaking news.
Valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the state of residence.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a 24‑hour news channel.
Working Conditions
Inside a climate‑controlled environment and outside during the year, possibly under extreme heat or cold.
