Job Description:
The Exhibits Department continuously improves our guests' and visitors' experience. The production graphics volunteer will work with the Graphics staff in the Exhibits Department to develop new graphic displays and create and install signage. A basic understanding of how an aircraft carrier works is helpful, but not necessary.
The Graphic Production Artist volunteer will work in the Exhibits Department. Skills include:
The graphic volunteer will follow and sometimes edit the staff’s design of the infographics, as well as basic typographic layouts for wayfinding signage.
Large format printing, trimming with an X-acto Blade, laminating, and mounting to an array of substrates. (A keen eye for detail and a steady hand are required.)
Installing wayfinding signage as well as stand-alone graphics.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, primarily Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Familiarity with using PC and MAC workstations is required.
Staff will manage the workload of the projects and will be assigned based on ability and comfort level. Working-from-home options can be arranged if needed.
We are seeking a commitment of 8-10 hours per week with a flexible schedule. The work schedule is Tuesday through Thursday between 8 AM and 4 PM. The applicant must be able to climb and descend the ship’s ladders (steep stairs) and lift up to 45 lbs.
