Education Development Center (EDC) is a global nonprofit that works with partners to advance every person’s journey to learn, work, and be well. For more than 65 years, EDC has partnered with communities, governments, and private sector to improve education, workforce development and health outcomes.

By combining interdisciplinary expertise with real-world experience, EDC works across these pillars to design, implement, and scale evidence-based solutions that help partners address complex challenges and create lasting change.

Founded in 1958, EDC today brings together a global team working across the United States and around the world. Our diverse portfolio of programs is supported by federal agencies, philanthropic foundations, multilateral institutions, and corporate partners.

EDC is seeking an innovative visual designer who combines strong interactive and motion design skills with a love for storytelling to help define, execute, and evolve EDC’s reputation and influence across channels. This role is for a designer who not only produces high-quality visuals, but also enjoys bringing brand and campaign stories to life from concept through execution, with the judgment and initiative to shape work along the way.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled designer who is energized by turning complex ideas into clear, compelling visual narratives. They are comfortable working from a starting point that may be loosely defined and can independently develop, refine, and deliver work that will elevate EDC’s work.

This is a strong opportunity for a forward-thinking, mission-driven designer who wants to grow as a brand communications leader over time. You will play a key part in shaping how EDC shows up across digital channels, campaigns, and thought leadership, helping translate strategy into impactful, cohesive creative work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Visual Designer will communicate clearly and courteously, develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders, and work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies and procedures.

The Visual Designer will:

Guide design from concept to execution across social, web, and digital campaigns, including interactive and motion-based work

Translate ideas, briefs, and early concepts into clear visual directions, often working from loosely defined starting points

Contribute daily to social media storytelling by developing concepts and producing high-quality visual assets

Design and prototype interactive experiences that make complex content engaging and accessible

Bring an editorial mindset to visual storytelling, shaping how ideas are structured, sequenced, and delivered across channels

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, navigating feedback and revisions with professionalism and clarity

Contribute to the evolution of EDC’s brand and digital presence, including website and cross‑channel experiences

Build and maintain scalable design systems, templates, and components that support consistency and efficiency

Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality, on‑brand execution
