This role focuses on driving the adoption of advanced residential lighting control and smart lighting solutions across key contractor, distributor, and builder networks. You will play a critical role in expanding market presence by identifying new opportunities, engaging directly with electrical contractors, and supporting the conversion of accounts to innovative electrical device solutions. Acting as both a technical advisor and sales driver, you will deliver product expertise, training, and hands-on support to ensure successful implementation in the field. The position requires strong customer engagement skills and the ability to influence multiple stakeholders across the residential electrical ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with regional sales teams and distribution partners to accelerate growth and strengthen product positioning. This is a field-driven, high-impact role combining technical knowledge, relationship-building, and strategic sales execution across a dynamic regional market.
Accountabilities
In this role, you will be responsible for generating new sales opportunities and expanding the adoption of residential lighting control solutions across contractors, distributors, and builder accounts. You will actively prospect and engage electrical contractors, conduct sales visits, and log all activities in CRM systems to ensure accurate pipeline management. A key part of your role will involve delivering technical training sessions on smart lighting and control systems, helping customers understand installation and product value. You will also collaborate with regional sales teams and independent representatives to identify opportunities and support account conversions. In addition, you will assist with distributor engagement, inventory alignment, and product promotion across your assigned territory. Travel across the Western U.S. will be required to support field activity and customer engagement.
Identify and engage residential electrical contractors, distributors, and builder accounts
Drive adoption of residential lighting controls and smart lighting solutions
Conduct sales calls, field visits, and CRM activity tracking (SFDC)
Deliver training sessions on installation and use of smart lighting products
Collaborate with regional sales teams and rep agents on prospecting and conversions
Support distributor partnerships, including inventory and product alignment
Promote full residential electrical product portfolio across assigned territory
Travel extensively across Western U.S. regions (CA, WA, OR, CO)
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in outside sales within the U.S. residential electrical market, with a proven ability to build relationships and drive product adoption. You have a solid understanding of lighting controls, smart home technologies, and residential electrical systems, including awareness of applicable codes and standards. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred. You are a confident communicator with strong presentation skills, capable of engaging both small and large groups. You are highly self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a field-based role. Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools is expected, along with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
5+ years of experience in outside sales within the U.S. residential market
Strong knowledge of lighting controls and residential electrical products
Understanding of residential electrical codes and installation requirements
Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
Strong presentation and communication skills
Ability to train and influence technical and non-technical audiences
Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Self-starter with strong organizational and territory management skills
Willingness to travel extensively across assigned regions
