Medical Editor – Medical Communications

This role is centered on delivering high-quality medical and scientific editorial support for pharmaceutical marketing and healthcare communications materials in a fast-paced, deadline-driven agency environment. You will take ownership of editorial quality across assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with AMA style and medical/legal/regulatory standards. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage multiple complex projects while collaborating closely with cross-functional account teams. You will contribute directly to the clarity, scientific integrity, and regulatory readiness of promotional and medical content used in highly regulated healthcare contexts. This is a hands-on editorial role combining copyediting, fact-checking, and submission preparation responsibilities. It is well suited for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in structured processes and values scientific accuracy and communication excellence.
Accountabilities:
In this role, you will lead editorial execution across medical communications projects while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client and regulatory standards.
Copyedit medical and promotional materials for grammar, spelling, consistency, tone, and adherence to AMA style and client requirements
Conduct detailed fact-checking of scientific claims, unbranded content, and data-driven statements to ensure accuracy and credibility
Review medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) feedback and integrate changes while maintaining scientific and contextual integrity
Prepare and support MLR submission processes, including tagging, linking, and platform-based uploads when required
Serve as lead editor on assigned accounts and represent editorial function in internal meetings and kickoff discussions
Ensure adherence to established editorial workflows, compliance standards, and submission best practices
Collaborate with account and creative teams to improve efficiency and streamline editorial review processes
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Life Sciences, Regulatory, or related field
3+ years of experience in medical editing, pharmaceutical communications, or healthcare-focused editorial work
Experience in advertising, pharma marketing, or agency environments preferred
Background in editing scientific or long-form content such as manuscripts, posters, or publications is a plus
Strong command of English grammar and expertise in AMA style (11th edition)
Familiarity with MLR processes, FDA regulations, and submission platforms such as Veeva preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
Experience using scientific research tools such as PubMed and Google Scholar
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities in deadline-driven environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
