Freelance Photographer/editor

The TEGNA NBC station in Cleveland (WKYC-TV) seeks a highly skilled Photojournalist to create shareable and exciting content for television, social media, and mobile. The ideal candidate is proficient in the latest photography, editing tools, and techniques, and can work effectively on live news gathering and on‑air presenting when required.

Responsibilities

Capture compelling news, sports, features, and documentary‑style stories in a daily deadline environment.

Operate an ENG truck or IP video‑based live unit (TVU) when assigned.

Work independently or with a team on daily news assignments.

Attend editorial meetings and contribute story ideas.

Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new media formats to enhance stories.

Requirements

BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.

7–10 years of experience in a newsroom environment.

Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.

Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to various locations.

Strong creative, engaging, live‑shot production ability.

Active participation in NPPA (plus).

Excellent news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non‑linear editing skills.

Understanding of the principles of professional journalism.

Proficiency in EDIUS or other non‑linear editing system preferred.

Organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Capacity to handle live breaking news situations.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Flexible schedule, reliable, dependable.

Pay Range
$23—$35 USD
