The Community Media Coordinator supports community members in achieving their production goals and helping them share their stories through training and guidance. This role requires an understanding of video production techniques and a collaborative, educational approach to teaching and assisting individuals in creating and sharing media. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a community-focused mindset to enhance CMAC’s ability to promote media literacy.
Responsibilities
Develop and teach workshops on a variety of media production topics. Workshops will be short-form and long-form. Workshops may take place at CMAC or off-site. Keep track of workshop attendees, rosters, evaluation forms, and other related documents.
Oversee the member production approval process. Meet and follow up with members as needed. Give advice as to production formats and technical needs. Check-in with members to ensure their projects stay on track and meet timelines.
Collaborate with the Community Media Assistants to schedule and arrange meetings with members, offering continued support throughout the production process.
Oversee the member volunteer process by connecting producers with crew and helping to build strong production teams that provide successful community-driven media projects.
Provide comprehensive overviews of CMAC’s recording spaces, ensuring users understand how to operate the equipment and facilities for their productions.
Work alongside the Community Media Manager to brainstorm and implement innovative strategies to ensure the success of member production projects. This could include researching new trends in software, equipment, and training best practices.
Track data and create reports regarding CMAC’s membership and workshops.
Work on media production projects on occasion as assigned (including pre-production, production, or post-production duties).
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse community members, troubleshoot production challenges, and clearly convey technical concepts related to media equipment and workflows.
Other Requirements
Manual dexterity and coordination required to operate small push buttons, keys, and switches associated with electronic devices and computers.
Ability to operate video equipment during productions and education courses.
Work schedule is Tuesday-Thursday 11am to 8pm; Friday-Saturday 9am-6pm.
Flexibility to adjust hours occasionally based on event and production needs.
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off and holiday policies. $23-25 per hour depending on experience.
