POSITION SUMMARY:

The

Lead medical writer

is responsible for managing the peer-reviewed publications and conference activity. This includes, developing a publication roadmap, timeline and project manage relevant studies from conception to submission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage publication and conference roadmap and project manage timelines for each deliverable from conception to submission.
Drive high priority deliverables and provide guidance and advise on publication structure, format and journal selection
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with other SMEs (RnD, Translational Medicine, Medical Affairs, Marketing and Public relations, Market Access and Regulatory) to provide support on writing deliverables on high priority projects (Clinical trial protocols, reimbursement dossiers, regulatory support)
Copy edits and route documents for review and adjudicate comments in a timely fashion.
Provide expert guidance in handling rebuttals/ response letters from journals
Mentor junior writers with writing, editing and developing high quality and graphics and posters.
Mentor junior writers to bring them up to speed with Natera's SciComm processes
Develop key study summaries and for Marketing team and executive leadership team based on the content submitted to conferences
Interact with internal stakeholders and with external service providers to ensure the timely development, review, and publication of documents.
Work with third parties including academic partners, key opinion leaders, and contractors during development of technical documents.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral degree (PhD, MD or PharmD) required in biology, molecular genetics, Molecular Biology, oncology, genetics and genomics, other relevant scientific or clinical discipline, or equivalent required.
A minimum of 4 years of experience writing/editing scientific documents/publications experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or medical communications industries.
Experience or background in molecular biology/genomics, oncology or diagnostics a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Excellent writing ability with strong editorial and formatting skills.
Ability to drive complex projects that require input from many stakeholders.
Ability to create high quality documents that effectively and clearly convey scientific data, properly identify/target the audience for each document, and communicate key messages clearly and concisely.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work cross functionally, collaborate, negotiate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Excellent project management skills.
Be able to prioritize projects and work efficiently with other other key stakegolders
Basic to intermediate knowledge of biostatistical and clinical research concepts.
Familiarity with electronic literature search tools and obtaining copyright permissions.
Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills; experience using Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Professional, and InDesign) a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Duties are typically performed in an office setting and environment.
This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.
Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
