Plant Operator Technician
Responsibilities and Duties:
Operate local plant equipment safely and reliably, including PLC control of water, ash, and other systems.
Perform local system line‑up, isolation, and equipment‑specific checks as directed by the Shift Supervisor or Control Room Operator.
Manage operational logs, pass down shift status, and communicate effectively with other shifts.
Help facilitate on‑the‑job training for Operator Level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications.
Ensure adherence to safety and environmental procedures at all times.
The role supports plant startups, shutdowns, outages, and the operational readiness of the 700 MW Super‑Critical Coal‑Fired Generating Station, including fuel systems, ash handling, scrubber systems, steam turbine generator, condensate/feedwater cycle equipment, plant auxiliary equipment, and environmental control systems.
About the Plant
Longview Power is a 700 MW net electric power generating facility located on approximately 225 acres in Monongalia County, near Fort Martin, West Virginia. The plant uses a supercritical pulverized coal boiler with over 2 million tons of coal per year, low‑NOx burners, selective catalytic reduction, a fabric filter baghouse, and flue gas desulfurization to limit emissions.
Process water is supplied from Dunkard Creek Water Treatment Systems, filtered, reverse‑osmosed, and piped approximately 5.5 miles to the site.
