Job Description
Associate Director, International Regulatory Affairs Advertising & Promotion responsible for safeguarding products and practices to adhere to the highest quality and regulatory standards. The role designs and delivers optimized global regulatory strategies, plans and dossiers that align with AbbVie’s overall business strategy. It leads the implementation of regulatory advertising and promotion strategies for marketed and development compounds in alignment with the overarching global regulatory strategy and global brand plan.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate global industry environment (regulatory, legal, political) and plan strategically for regulatory communications.
- Provide global regulatory position, perspective and expertise on advertising and promotion to internal and external customers.
- Maintain current knowledge of global codes of practice, regulations, and guidances affecting pharmaceutical advertising.
- Implement department policies and procedures; contribute to updates on divisional and corporate policies affecting core messaging.
- Analyze regulatory positions and messaging responses to high‑visibility pharmaceutical news.
- Mentor and develop leaders; provide strategic input into training programs.
- Collaborate across functions; serve as key resource on pharmaceutical advertising and promotion.
- Apply innovative problem‑solving methods; maintain compliance with international codes of practice.
- Balance business needs and risk assessments; lead cross‑functional teams.
- Work a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office at AbbVie Mettawa, IL headquarters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, medical technology, pharmacy, or pharmacology required.
- Master’s, Ph.D. or Pharm.D. preferred.
- 8+ years of pharmaceutical experience for Associate Director, or 5+ years with Pharm.D. plus relevant advertising and promotion experience.
- Solid understanding of regulatory advertising and promotion regulations and direct responsibility in this area.
- International experience desired.
