Model Context Protocol (MCP) Developer
Location: Louisville, KY (Onsite)
Duration: Contract
Role Description
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the standard mechanism for securely exposing domain data and business processes to AI agentic applications. MCP enables AI agents to query data, reason over context, and execute actions via governed, reusable, and low‑latency interfaces. To accelerate adoption across the Insurance portfolio, we are seeking a contracting partner to provide a specialized MCP acceleration team that will work directly with individual Insurance domains to design, build, and deliver domain‑owned MCP servers aligned to Enterprise MCP standards.
The objective of this engagement is to rapidly enable each domain to deliver a production‑ready v1.0 MCP server that can support Agent Assist use cases immediately, while being architected for future enterprise AI agent scenarios.
Scope of Services
The contracting partner will provide a cross‑functional team with technical delivery, MCP expertise, and light‑weight project management capabilities to operate as an accelerator for each participating Insurance domain. For each domain, the contractor will support a time‑boxed, two‑week engagement resulting in a functional MCP server that is transitioned to full ownership by the domain at completion.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with domain SMEs to identify and prioritize business questions and processes to be exposed to AI agents.
Design and implement MCP servers that aggregate:
Multiple domain APIs
Static or curated reference data
Supporting metadata and schemas required for accurate agent reasoning
Implement MCP servers using Enterprise MCP infrastructure and tooling, compliant with enterprise security, governance, and API standards.
Ensure MCP servers support low‑latency, high‑accuracy responses suitable for real‑time agent interactions, such as Agent Assist.
Deliver validated test results demonstrating functional correctness, accuracy, and performance against defined requirements.
Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and handoff materials to enable ongoing domain ownership and evolution.
Domain and Contractor Responsibilities
Provide subject matter experts (SMEs) for data, APIs, and business processes.
Define and validate a prioritized list of:
Natural language questions the domain must answer
Business processes or actions that must be executed by AI agents
Retain long‑term ownership of the MCP server following v1.0 delivery.
Contracting Partner Will
Supply MCP‑experienced technical resources with hands‑on knowledge of MCP standards, patterns, and tooling.
Provide delivery coordination and execution discipline to keep each engagement on schedule.
Act as an enablement partner, transferring MCP knowledge and best practices during each engagement.
Align all implementations to Enterprise MCP standards, security requirements, and governance controls.
