LOCATION: Foster City, CA (Hybrid; 3 days in office/week)

PAY RANGE: $82 - $92/hr.

DURATION: 6 Months

TOP 3 SKILLS:

10+ years of craftsmanship engineering experience in the automotive or transport industries.

5+ years of experience chairing forums and leading key technical decisions in automotive or transport programs.

Bachelor s degree in Product Design or Engineering (Master s preferred) with strong expertise in multi-sensory quality and craftsmanship measurement tools.

Job Description:

We re seeking a Craftsmanship Engineer to pioneer craftsmanship as a proactive approach in product development. This role will define craftsmanship in relation to DNA, the product nature and use-case, and develop objective, measurable, and plausible vehicle-level craftsmanship targets, as well as contribute to product design and development to embed craftsmanship requirements. They will also develop the necessary documentation for defining and tracking the development and communication of those targets, as well as enquiring measurement tools and artifacts.

Responsibilities:

Lead a cross-functional activity to embed craftsmanship requirements as a proactive driver in product development from the early phases.

Collaborate with design, dimensional engineering, product development, manufacturing, supplier quality, and HMI teams to align on plausible and achievable vehicle-level targets for Dimensional Quality, Interface Execution, Auditory, Haptic, Olfactory, and Functional Quality.

Participating in Grey-Zone, Cabin scent, Ambient Lighting, NVH targets, Active Sounds, and Color & Trim Development.

Drive a continuous improvement mindset, ensuring craftsmanship elevates brand perception and user trust, not only at the end of line, but throughout the product life cycle.

Reporting to the Director of Geometric Integration on a regular basis and escalating for decisions as and when required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of Craftsmanship Engineering experience in the automotive or transport industry.

Minimum of 5 years of chairing forums and navigating key decisions in the automotive or transport industry.

Great communication and people skills are highly demanded by this role.

Minimum qualification of a Bachelor s in Product Design or an Engineering discipline, a Master s is preferred.

Extensive knowledge of visual, tactile, olfactory, auditory, and functional quality, ensuring harmony in all user touchpoints.

Experience in the development of Target Document, VR, virtual tools, physical artifacts and measuring tools.

Proven track record of mapping craftsmanship, defining objectives and tasks, and developing a plan with clear measurable deliverables at gateways.
