Technical Writer
Pay Rate: $37.98 + $5.09 H&W
Seeking a Technical Writer to join our team in support of the Deep Space Network (DSN) at Monrovia, California. The Technical Writer is a member of the Documentation Group, which manages the publication, release, and control of JPL and Peraton documentation in support of the Deep Space Network (DSN) Maintenance and Operations (M&O) contract.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all aspects of customer documentation, preparation and timely publication. The role provides editorial review for structure, grammar, general clarity, and common rules of technical writing and ensures compliance with templates for official documents, directives, test plans, and test reports.
Responsibilities:
Edit, format, and maintain documents including, but not limited to program plans, system test reports, procedures, design documentation, requirements, user manuals, training materials, presentations, meeting minutes, and reports
Preparation of documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, grammar and spelling requirements including the creation and update JPL and Peraton document templates.
Collaborate with authors, assigned stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain better understanding of subject matter.
Conduct quality review of materials and provide peer review of program documents.
Validate quality of documents produced to ensure technical clarity and adherence to editorial and format standards. Conduct quality review of materials and provide peer review of program documents.
Manage document signature and release in associated documentation tools and repositories
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Requires High School level plus some advanced training. 4-5 years of experience.
Two (2) years experience in MS Office Suite with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Skills must include ability to create and modify styles, forms, and templates.
Possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, be proactive, possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and be self-motivated.
Experience drafting technical documents and SOPS.
Experience with a version control system.
Desired Qualifications:
Business or Technical School (AA Degree desired) in English, Journalism, Communications or related discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience.
