The primary responsibility of the Account Specialist - Medical Estimates is to generate precise cost estimates for medical procedures and services, taking into account insurance coverage, facility pricing, and patient-specific details. This role promotes transparency and empowers patients to make informed decisions regarding their healthcare expenses.
Key Responsibilities

Utilize electronic health record systems to calculate patients' out-of-pocket costs for upcoming procedures and radiology services.
Determine deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums for scheduled services.
Communicate with patients via patient portals, email, text, and phone to provide cost information.
Document estimated costs in the health record system to inform registration staff of payment requirements prior to service delivery.
Collect payments before procedures are performed.
Prepare estimates for high-cost radiology services, surgeries, and office procedures.
Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while prioritizing tasks and fostering solutions.
Model professional standards of behavior and support team compliance.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
Education and Experience

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Proficiency with PC and experience in insurance claim filing and reimbursement processes for inpatient and outpatient services.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Requirements and Skills

Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to calmly and effectively interact with distressed or agitated patients and families.
Completion of Mandatory Reporter training at hire or within six months.
Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
Commitment to integrity, credibility, and organizational mission.
Participation in ongoing education and compliance training as required.
