Responsibilities
Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies

is seeking an experienced distribution leader to oversee field and virtual distribution across a broad Eastern footprint. This is a player‑coach leadership role for a distribution professional focused on building strong teams, strengthening agency partnerships, and driving profitable growth.

In this role, you will play a key part in executing GUARD’s distribution strategy—representing our products in the market, expanding regional reach, and leading a team of Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers. This position offers the opportunity to influence strategy while maintaining a hands‑on leadership approach.

Eastern Region Coverage:

ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NJ, NY, PA, WV, OH, KY, DE, DC, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, GA, AL, TN, LA, MS

Lead Field and Virtual Distribution

Lead, coach, and develop Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers across the Eastern Region, reinforcing accountability, performance expectations, and professional development

Establish a consistent and scalable approach to distribution leadership aligned with company priorities

Serve as a visible leader within both the organization and the agency community

Strengthen Agency Partnerships

Build and maintain senior‑level agency relationships that support profitable, long‑term growth

Align agency strategies with GUARD’s underwriting approach, product offerings, and market objectives

Represent GUARD as a trusted and disciplined carrier partner

Drive Sales Execution

Oversee a structured and repeatable sales process supported by clear metrics and performance expectations

Ensure effective use of tools, resources, and sales activity across the region

Maintain alignment between distribution execution and underwriting strategy

Lead Regional Market Development

Partner with distribution and underwriting leadership to identify growth opportunities and refine territory alignment

Guide regional expansion efforts through thoughtful evaluation and execution

Contribute to broader distribution planning efforts

Use Market & Performance Insights

Analyze agency performance, market trends, and competitive activity to inform decision‑making

Ensure regional strategies remain responsive to market conditions while maintaining underwriting discipline

Translate insights into clear actions that support performance and growth

Qualifications

5+ years of experience managing field distribution, with success leading geographically dispersed sales teams

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong agency partnerships

Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance, including Workers’ Compensation, Businessowners’, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella

Familiarity with the Eastern Region, including agency networks and competitive landscape

Strong sales acumen, sound judgment, and effective people leadership skills

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the region

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus

Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driving standards

This position is subject to background screening, which may include drug testing and motor vehicle record review for roles involving driving.
