About the Role

The Director of Music Ministries is both a skilled professional and a pastoral leader, responsible for ensuring that music is integral to the prayer, worship, and mission of our parish.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as principal organist and pianist for four weekend liturgies, as well as Holy Days, weddings, funerals, weekly school liturgies and sacramental celebrations.

  • Plan and coordinate music for liturgies throughout the liturgical year in collaboration with the Pastor and pastoral staff.

  • Direct and rehearse choirs (adult and youth), while recruiting, training, and mentoring cantors, section leaders, and instrumentalists.

  • Support the active participation of the entire assembly in sung prayer.

  • Supervise the parish’s music budget, music library, church sound systems, and instruments; ensure copyright compliance.

  • Create worship aids and assist in the liturgical formation of parishioners and ministers.

  • Represent the parish in professional organizations (e.g., NPM, AGO) and pursue ongoing formation in music and liturgy.

Qualifications

  • An accomplished organist/pianist, with training and experience in choral conducting, and demonstrated excellence in parish music ministry.

  • Knowledgeable in Catholic liturgy and sacred music, both traditional and contemporary. A collaborative leader who works well with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.

  • A practicing Catholic with a sense of vocation to serve the Church through music.

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in music (required); Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experienced (5–10 years) in directing choirs, accompanying liturgy, and leading parish music programs.

Our Commitment

  • Competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with education and experience.

  • Professional development support through memberships, workshops, and continuing education.

  • A welcoming, collaborative environment that recognizes music as a ministry at the heart of the Church’s mission.
