Director for the MIT Shakespeare Ensemble's Fall 2026 theater production
Description
The MIT Shakespeare Ensemble seeks a director for its Fall 2026 production. The play will be selected by the Ensemble in conjunction with the director by the end of June.
Schedule & Compensation
A stipend of $2,400–$2,600 is available. The time commitment involves directing roughly 17 hours of rehearsal per week over five rehearsal days per week, with additional time during tech and production week. This equates to approximately $18 per hour.
Auditions will be held the first week of September. Performances will run Nov 13–15 and Nov 19–21 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities
Direct the production, collaborating with the Ensemble to choose the play, guiding actors and technical members through rehearsals, and ensuring a supportive environment for students.
Qualifications
Past experience directing or participating in Shakespeare productions is preferred. Experience in educational theater programs, especially college-level theater, is also encouraged. The group is an educational theater set‑up, focusing on creating a supportive environment for students new to theater and/or Shakespeare.
