Role Overview:
As a Reporter at the Civic Science Media Lab, you will be at الحال환의 the forefront of our journalistic mission to unveil the stories that matter within the realm of civic science. Your role will involve thorough exploration and investigation toасаб uncover stories that showcase the rapid developments in civic science scholarship and practice around the world. Through your exceptional storytelling and video editing skills, you will bring these stories to life, enlightening both expert and non‑expert audiences and fostering informed discussions that drive progress in civic science.

Responsibilities:

Exploration and Uncovering: Dive into the rapidly evolving landscape of civic science, unveiling stories that demonstrate the latest developments in scholarship and practice.

In-Depth Investigations: Conduct rigorous investigations that reveal the intricacies of civic science ecosystems, shedding light on critical issues across the field.

Compelling Video Reports: Translate complex stories into engaging video reports that captivate audiences and make the connections between science and society accessible.

Video Editing Mastery: Utilize your video editing expertise with Canva to craft visually compelling and impactful reports that resonate with viewers.

Social Media Engagement: Leverage your storytelling to engage with audiences on social media platforms, sparking conversations from your published stories.

Independent Exploration: Independently identify key narratives and stories within civic science, showcasing your investigative skills.

Deliverables:

Create and file 1 video report per month, each 5-10 minutes in length.

Video reports should include snippets of interviews, commentary, storytelling from the reporter, audio, and other visuals as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

A degree in STEM is not a requirement.

Demonstrated experience as a reporter, with a portfolio showcasing your ability to unravel complex stories.

Proficiency in video editing software, particularly Canva.

Strong research skills and the ability to conduct interviews that uncover valuable insights.

Independent and self‑motivated, with a knack for identifying untold stories.

Social media savvy, with a talent for engaging with diverse audiences.

Salary:
$250 per month
