Fusebox Games are hiring a Senior Writer ✏️

This isn’t just a writing role, you’ll be leading, shaping stories, and managing a small team while working on some of our biggest narrative titles.

You must have proven line management experience alongside strong interactive fiction writing skills.

UK-based (remote)
Narrative + leadership
6 Months FTC but with potential to extend or go permanent

Location: Remote (UK Residents Only) Please note we are only accepting applications from within the UK due to being flexible to travel to work events/socials

Please note this role is initially offered on a fixed-term basis, with the potential to be extended or considered for a permanent position depending on business needs and performance.

About the Company
Fusebox Games are looking for a passionate and talented Senior Writer to join our narrative team to work on both existing and new original games and interactive stories. This is a management role within the narrative team, where you will not only contribute creatively but also manage and develop a small team of 2–3 writers/story associates. This is a remote role, however you must be based in the UK to apply.

About the Role
This is a management role within the narrative team, where you will not only contribute creatively but also manage and develop a small team of 2–3 writers/story associates.

Responsibilities

Line manage, support, and develop a team of 2–3 writers and/or story associates, providing regular feedback, coaching, and performance support

Act as a creative and people leader, setting clear direction and maintaining high standards across the team

Develop concepts and stories for both original and IP interactive content

Work closely with our Project Lead Writer and the Writing team to invent worlds, stories, and characters

Ensure all written material and produced content meets Fusebox Studio’s Interactive Fiction Narrative Best Practices

Attend and lead writers’ rooms and creative workshops

Pitch story arcs for various original and IP properties

Help to skilfully manage and steer IP holder relationships

Plot and structure episodes and scripts (including dynamic and premium choices) with high levels of autonomy

Review and edit scripts and outlines with high attention to detail

Oversee volumes of scripts to ensure all content meets quality standards

Actively contribute to feedback, reviews, and idea generation sessions

Proactively and autonomously raise and address any quality or performance issues

Write compelling dialogue for an ensemble cast of characters

Draft and revise outlines and scripts to deadline, providing clear and constructive feedback

Lead meetings with other departments to ensure projects stay on track

Rewrite scripts to tight deadlines to ensure they meet or exceed quality expectations

Playtest story chapters and provide feedback and iteration

Collaborate with writers, artists, and wider teams across Fusebox

Take on project leadership alongside other senior team members

Requirements

Proven experience managing people (ideally small creative teams)

Extensive writing experience on mobile games or within the games industry

Strong understanding of choice structure and interactive fiction best practices

Enthusiasm for collaboration and for giving and receiving feedback

Ability to be creative, flexible, and solution-focused in a fast-moving environment

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

A desire to be both a creative leader and a team player

Knowledge of Love Island and other Fusebox titles

Passion for storytelling and interactive fiction

Excellent ear for dialogue and strong understanding of tone and pacing

A drive to deliver high-quality work and contribute beyond your core role
