Job Description
The Virginia Tech Department of Athletics seeks an Associate Director / Creative Video to collaborate with key stakeholders in the strategy, creation, conceptualization, planning, and execution of video and digital content across Virginia Tech Athletics. This role will serve as the primary videographer for the Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball program, oversee student assistants for select sports, and work with a team of 15+ creative students to develop their skills. The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
Hours per week: 40+. Nights and weekends as needed.
Salary: $52,000. Overtime: exempt (not eligible).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with significant video experience, or a master’s degree.
- Strong storytelling skills and experience.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting, while also being self-\u2011motivated and organized.
- Substantial experience producing a variety of videos including daily social videos, hype videos, recruiting content, intro videos, and promotional materials.
- Relevant experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cinema-\u2011style and DSLR cameras.
- Experience with professional lighting systems.
- Ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to edit according to tight deadlines, scripts and brand guidelines.
- Ability to work independently and seamlessly with separate teams from Brand Advancement, Revenue, and Productions & Multimedia.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Online portfolio/reel that demonstrates expertise in shooting and editing.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules.
- Functional knowledge of technology and industry trends.
- Experience writing scripts.
- Experience with in-\u2011venue video production.
