Program Supervisor
The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. The Commitment Oversight & Release Section (CORS) is leading the charge for the Department of Corrections in ensuring transparency and collaboration when determining inmate placement. This team works closely with our treatment and rehabilitation partners providing support to match the unique needs of each individual, while balancing the concerns of victims and community safety. The CORS (Commitment Oversight & Release Section) Program Supervisor will be driving meaningful change for incarcerated individuals, improving outcomes back into Montana communities, and providing transparency and shaping placement decisions for offenders who have been placed under DOC authority. As the supervisor, you will set the vision and direction for the program to evaluate placements of DOC committed offenders and their potential opportunities for rehabilitation and reentry, while balancing victim concerns and public safety. You'll collaborate with agency leaders, community partners, and policymakers to ensure high-quality, consistent services that meet regulatory standards and advance DOC priorities. Depending on the location of the selected candidate, remote work may be allowed and necessary.
Oversee statewide section making placement decisions for DOC committed offenders
Drive strategy, set goals, and measure outcomes to improve system-wide performance
Ensure quality, compliance, and consistency with policies and correctional best practices
Participate in the Institutional Screening process
Partner with DOC personnel and community partners
Ensure statutorily required court notifications are completed
Represent DOC with legislators, leadership, and the public
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals
You'll play a critical role in advancing rehabilitation efforts, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of DOC committed offenders.
Qualifications: The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
Familiarity with program management
Proficiency using Excel for tracking and reporting
Ability to provide effective leadership, vision and direction
Ability to provide clear communication and transparent processes to internal and external stakeholders
Five years of experience within in the Montana Department of Corrections
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to behavioral health, social services, criminology, human services or other occupationally related fields. Supervisory and program management experience
Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
