Development and Communications Senior Associate (Grant Writer)

Position Summary:
Provides leadership and support in grant writing, program planning, and development; writes and submits funding proposals; supports social media presence; leads projects in development and communication, including data collection, publications, marketing, and reporting to funders.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience: $65,000 - $80,000.
Key Responsibilities
Conceptualize and develop high‑level, complex proposals.
Develop and write funding proposals and applications to government entities (federal, state, county, city), foundations, United Way, and other sources.
Perform research for funding proposals and applications.
Assist in donor identification, cultivation, and recognition.
Write various grant documents and special assignments.
Solicit donations, advertising, and in‑kind goods/services to promote WCS programs and events.
Work closely with the Director of Development and Communication to implement the organization’s development plan and fundraising activities.
Provide creative input, product development, and clerical support on special writing projects with senior leaders.
Maintain and expand electronic and social media presences.
Coordinate with VPs, program directors, and administrators to identify grant and funding opportunities for new or existing programs.
Lead donor cultivation, recognition, and relationship development with foundations and corporations.
Manage public relations and capital campaign projects.
Collect, write, and archive success stories for internal and external use.
Contribute articles to the WCS newsletter, annual report, and other publications.
Create writing templates for proposals and agency materials.
Develop media relationships and secure coverage of WCS work.
Prepare media and press releases for review and distribution.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Gather agency statistics and external data related to justice system, community reintegration, behavioral health, and peer support.
Maintain a central filing system for funded programming and projects.
Participate in public relations strategy.
Update records of submitted proposals and applications.
Prepare presentations and represent the agency at conferences and community events.
Supervise interns in the Development and Communication Department.
Job Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s level studies in communication, public policy, social welfare, or a related field; five to ten years of experience with proposal/grant writing and institutional donors; knowledge of fundraising and research techniques and strategies; proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel), databases, design/presentation software, and event software.
