AVL Consultant
Churchfront LLC | Melbourne, Florida
At Churchfront, we believe technology—when paired with timeless truths—can unlock new potential in ministry. We're a national AVL integrator serving churches across the United States, designing and installing clear, reliable, and distraction-free systems that help churches steward technology wisely and maximize their kingdom impact.
We're looking for an AVL Consultant to join our consulting team. This role is for someone who can take a church project from design through installation and into long-term support—managing the moving pieces across departments, keeping the client informed and confident, and ensuring the church team is fully equipped to own their systems long after the install is complete.
About the Role
The AVL Consultant sits within Churchfront's Consulting department—the team responsible for managing the delivery of AVL integration projects and providing long-term support to church clients nationwide. You'll serve as the single point of contact for your clients from the moment a project enters design through installation, commissioning, training, and into ongoing support.
By the time a project reaches you, the pre-design work is done. The church's needs have been assessed, the program report has been delivered, and the client has committed to moving forward. Your job is to take that handoff and drive the project to completion—coordinating across Design, Production, and Operations to deliver on scope, timeline, and budget while keeping the client experience seamless.
You'll manage 6–10 active integration projects at a time. This isn't a traditional project management role—you're a consultant who advises and equips church teams, but you're also the person accountable for making sure every project you touch moves forward on time, stays on budget, and delivers the experience the client was promised.
You won't be producing drawings or pulling cable. Your focus is the client—and everything it takes to get them from signed proposal to a fully operational, well-supported system.
We don't just hand over a system and walk away. We equip teams to own it. This role is at the center of that mission.
What You'll Be Doing
Project Management & Delivery
Own the delivery of 6–10 active integration projects from design through stabilization. Drive project timelines, coordinate across departments, manage client expectations, and ensure every project hits its milestones. You're the single point of accountability—when a client has a question about their project, they call you.
Client Communication & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle. Keep church leadership informed on project status, set expectations on timelines and deliverables, and ensure every interaction reinforces trust and confidence in the process.
Cross-Department Coordination
Drive project execution by coordinating across Design, Production, and Operations. Partner with Design and Engineering to ensure solutions align with the client's vision and budget—providing client context, staying engaged through design reviews, and confirming the final deliverable matches what was promised. Coordinate with Production to plan and execute installations—managing scheduling, communicating site requirements, and ensuring the crew has what they need to execute efficiently. Work with Operations on procurement, logistics, and long-lead items to keep materials staged and projects on track.
Commissioning & Training
Lead the client-facing side of system commissioning—walking church teams through their new systems, verifying that the end-user experience matches the original vision, and documenting final system configurations and backup files. Ensure the church's tech director and volunteer team are trained and confident before you leave.
Remote Support & Troubleshooting
Lead remote support and coaching calls to help churches diagnose and resolve AVL issues after installation. Guide clients through system operation, signal flow, and common troubleshooting workflows. Escalate field service needs to the Production team when remote resolution isn't possible.
Training & Course Development
Develop online courses, training videos, and written guides that equip church tech teams to operate and maintain their systems with confidence. Collaborate with the marketing team to produce educational content that serves both current clients and Churchfront's broader audience.
What We're Looking For
Strong working knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems in a house of worship or live event context
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously—tracking timelines, budgets, and deliverables across cross-functional teams
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in project coordination and client communication
Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences—pastors, administrators, and volunteer teams
Experience with remote troubleshooting and client-facing support
Comfort leading the client-facing side of system commissioning—training, documentation, and handoff
Experience creating training content—video tutorials, written guides, course curriculum, or similar
Familiarity with common AVL platforms and control systems used in church environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently across multiple projects
Requirements
Ideal Education & Background
Background in audio engineering, broadcast media, AV integration, or technical ministry leadership
Project management experience in AV integration, construction, or a related field
Experience as a technical director, AVL lead, or systems engineer at a church or production company
Theological and ministry training
Familiarity with AVIXA standards
AVIXA CTS certification is a plus
Experience with project management tools (JobTread or similar)
Experience with content creation tools—screen recording, video editing, LMS platforms
Teaching, training, or coaching experience in a technical context
You’ll Thrive Here If You...
Act like an owner—you take full responsibility for every project from handoff to final training
Lead with humility—you meet church teams where they are, not where you think they should be
Leave no room for ambiguity—your project updates, documentation, and training materials are clear and actionable
Think ahead—you anticipate delays before they happen and address client questions before they're asked
Value results over excuses—when a project is behind or a client has a problem, you own it and solve it
Care about the mission—you understand that every call, every project, and every commissioning visit serves the local church
