Job Summary/Description

WSFA 12 News is looking for an experienced Multimedia Journalist/Reporter to join our award-winning team in Montgomery. You'll cover high-impact local stories for our newscasts, website, app, and social platforms—bringing strong storytelling, solid news judgment, and urgency to breaking news. We're seeking a team-first journalist who can manage multiple deadlines and who's eager to develop original, investigative, and enterprise reporting that holds the powerful accountable. Candidates should be able to shoot, write, edit, and publish for broadcast and digital platforms, and be confident producing compelling social media content (posting, live updates, and audience engagement) that extends the reach of your reporting. Position includes weekend shifts and limited anchoring as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Shooting, writing, and editing daily content for newscasts and website
Knowledge of ENPS is a plus
Ability to write news content for television and a different digital version
Ability to handle breaking news and live reporting
Generating story ideas and building local contacts
Performing other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications/Requirements:
At least 2 years as an MMJ in a television newsroom
Journalism or Communications degree preferred
Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems
Knowledge of central Alabama communities, issues, and coverage opportunities
Experience in a television newsroom
Must have a good driving record
