MMJ/ News Anchor - WBNG

Are you a versatile powerhouse who loves being a leader, thrives in a fast-paced multi-platform newsroom, and gets genuinely excited about connecting with audiences in every way possible? We're looking for a Multimedia Journalist/Anchor who can do it ALL for our team in Binghamton, NY. Whether you're leading a newscast from the desk or digging into a community story in the field, you understand that today's audience is everywhere on their TVs, their phones, and their social feeds and you're ready to meet them there with urgency and authenticity.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Anchor with authority: Deliver daily newscasts with a presence that makes viewers trust you and feel connected to their community.
Own the story: Find, shoot, and edit compelling stories that matter to Binghamton, bringing a unique perspective to every piece.
Lead in the newsroom: Act as a mentor and guide for the team, setting the pace with spot-on news judgment and a collaborative spirit.
Drive digital engagement: Own your presence across all platforms—on air, online, and on social—to grow our digital community.
Produce like a pro: Understand the "why" behind every rundown and jump in to help shape newscasts from the inside out.
Connect with the community: Represent the station at local events and build real relationships with the people we serve.
Qualifications/Requirements:
What You Bring:
Proven experience: This isn't your first rodeo; you've already shown what you can do as both a reporter and an anchor.
Multi-platform mindset: You embrace every tool in the modern newsroom toolkit, from high-end cameras to social media trends.
Sharp news judgment: You know what's important, what's interesting, and exactly what will resonate with our audience.
Top-notch writing skills: Your scripts are tight, clear, and conversational, never robotic.
On-camera confidence: You light up the screen and connect authentically with viewers, whether it's a hard news lead or a lighthearted community segment.
Scrappiness and urgency: You thrive under deadline pressure and aren't afraid to hustle to get the story first and best.
Technical proficiency: You're comfortable with non-linear editing (Edius/Adobe) and newsroom systems like ENPS.
A college degree and at least one year of experience are preferred.
A good driving record is required.
