ABOUT NBPAC: The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) is a transformational project that has propelled New Brunswick’s Downtown Cultural Arts District into the spotlight as the region’s most exciting and dynamic performing arts center. NBPAC features two state-of-the-art theatrical venues in the Elizabeth Ross Johnson and Arthur Laurents Theaters, dedicated rehearsal studios, collaborative work spaces for arts organizations across the region, as well as 207 residential rental apartments and public parking. With an investment of more than $170 million, the public-private partnership between DEVCO, the City of New Brunswick, Middlesex County, Pennrose, NJEDA, New Brunswick Cultural Center, Rutgers University, and New Brunswick Parking Authority is one of the most significant urban development initiatives in New Jersey.
Our Member Companies include American Repertory Ballet, Crossroads Theatre Company, George Street Playhouse, and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.
AUDIENCE AMBASSADOR: Audience Ambassadors are volunteers for New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. As a member of the volunteer group, Audience Ambassadors will have the opportunity to volunteer at performances/events for NBPAC member companies, NBPAC presented performances, and NBPAC rental performances/events.
Audience Ambassador Expectations
- Motivated and willing to support the front of house staff/volunteers including, but not limited to, fellow Audience Ambassadors, NBPAC House Manger(s), and Box Office Associates with tasks necessary to assist in the safe and timely movement of audiences in and out of the NBPAC performance spaces.
- Utilizes knowledge of the surrounding area and theatre to engage with audience members and provide information.
- Takes pride in providing exceptional services to meet all the needs of NBPAC customers.
Trainees
- Ambassadors will begin their time as trainees, and will be held to the same standards and expectations as Ambassadors.
- After two shifts as a Trainee, a volunteer will become a regular Audience Ambassador.
Day of Show Requirements
Audience Ambassadors are required to arrive at NBPAC 60 minutes prior to a performance beginning. (For
example, if a show begins at 7:30pm, Audience Ambassadors should arrive no later than 6:30pm.)
Each Audience Ambassador should expect to be on site for approximately four (4) hours per performance/event.
Please remember that Audience Ambassadors’ number one priority is to assist the guests at NBPAC. Seating for Ambassadors is not guaranteed.
