We seek a dynamic, dedicated editor who can drive compelling and impactful coverage during the key hours of the day starting at 2 p.m.

About the Role
The role requires overseeing newsroom coverage, managing and mentoring reporters, collaborating closely with Visuals, assigning and editing stories, monitoring trends, curating the homepage, updating social feeds, and upholding high journalistic standards while maintaining The Daily Beast's editorial voice.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee news coverage, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging reporting.

Write compelling headlines that draw readers.

Manage and mentor a team of reporters.

Collaborate with the Visuals department to enhance stories.

Assign, edit, and guide reporters to produce high‑quality content; write breaking news as needed.

Monitor news trends to stay ahead of competition.

Curation of the homepage and updating social feeds with fresh content.

Maintain journalistic standards and uphold editorial voice.

Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years in journalism, with at least 2 years in an editing role.

Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.

Strong news judgment and ability to make quick editorial decisions.

Deep understanding of digital media and audience engagement.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a small team.

Compensation & Benefits
The base salary ranges from $105,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on location, experience, performance, and other factors. Total compensation includes health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) employer match, paid holidays, and paid time off.
