Technical Artist II - VALORANT, Premium Content

Technical Artists at Riot blend artistic sensibility with technical problem-solving to create high-quality, performant player-facing content. As a Technical Artist II on the VALORANT Premium Content team, you will focus on implementing and supporting the systems that power premium cosmetic experiences.

In this role, you will work closely with cross-disciplinary partners to build Blueprint-driven systems, integrate content, and ensure smooth execution of complex features. You will contribute to both feature development and pipeline improvements while continuing to grow your technical depth.

Responsibilities

Implement Blueprint systems that support premium weapon features, including state-based logic and event-driven behaviors

Support development of cosmetic systems across:
Weapon logic and state transitions

Animation system integration and Anim Graph setup

Reactive features (kill events, progression states, feedback systems)

Collaborate with Animation, VFX, and Art to integrate assets into cohesive in-game experiences

Debug and troubleshoot Blueprint systems, identifying and resolving issues efficiently

Optimize systems to meet performance targets

Support artists and content creators by helping implement and troubleshoot technical setups

Contribute to tool and workflow improvements that increase team efficiency

Follow and apply established best practices for system design and content implementation

Required Qualifications

2–4 years of experience as a Technical Artist or similar role in games or real-time engines

Experience working in Unreal Engine, including:
Blueprint scripting (intermediate complexity)

Basic animation system integration (Anim Graph familiarity)

Experience implementing assets in-engine (animation, VFX, or UI elements)

Foundational understanding of performance considerations in real-time environments

Ability to debug and problem-solve within existing systems

Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams

Desired Qualifications

Experience working on gameplay-adjacent or cosmetic systems

Familiarity with scripting (Python or similar) for tools or workflows

Basic understanding of materials or shaders in Unreal
