Position Overview
This position drives equipment reliability on packaging systems through mechanical rebuilds, precision setup, and execution/optimization of planned preventive maintenance (PPM). Rapid fault isolation, root‑cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective and preventive actions improve MTBF, reduce MTTR, and minimize unplanned downtime. The role builds advanced proficiency across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls subsystems and supports condition‑based monitoring, spare‑parts strategy, and standardization of work instructions. As capacity expands, the technician will support commissioning, performance ramp‑up, and reliability validation during new line and product/package start‑ups. This role also supports onboarding and coaching new operators to reduce downtime related to inexperience.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance to restore Rychiger equipment operation and reduce downtime.
Perform scheduled rebuilds of Rychiger equipment.
Support maintenance planning, machine rebuilds, and reliability upgrades for Rychiger systems.
Learn the full rebuild lifecycle with the team lead, including parts procurement and failure RCA.
Interface with PLCs, robots, and other control platforms for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Participate in line start‑ups, installations, and new product/packaging trials.
Partner with operators to meet schedule targets by troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Coach operators on basic preventive maintenance and setting adjustments to improve efficiency and reliability.
Support equipment teardown, sanitation, and reassembly to ensure procedure compliance and minimize changeover time.
Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost and enhance efficiency, quality, or safety.
Coordinate service activities with external vendors as required.
Maintain facility systems and ensure safe work conditions.
Provide maintenance support to other production areas as needed.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, including computer‑based data entry.
Issue and replenish spare parts or elevate replenishment needs.
Provide on‑call maintenance support as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree, technical training, or related education strongly preferred.
Willingness to learn and apply new skills daily.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Food processing or packaging experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, workplace safety, and quality standards strongly preferred.
Maintenance technician or mechanic experience in food manufacturing.
Electrical maintenance plus automation/controls and PLC experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ERP system experience preferred.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
Must pass a post‑offer drug screen and background check.
Self‑directed, motivated, and detail‑oriented.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

Hours, Location and Pay
We offer a competitive base pay rate and benefits package for full‑time employees. The role typically works 6:00 a – 2:00 p on non‑rebuild days, and 10‑12 hour shifts during machine rebuilds, which usually last about 10 days. This position is located at our Little Chute, WI manufacturing facility.
Physical and Mental Demands
Frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. Occasionally required to operate business machines and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
