WBOY is looking for an MMJ/Reporter to join the team at north central West Virginia's top-rated TV station. We're looking for someone who can shoot, edit and write independently, while maintaining a strong online presence. The MMJ/Reporter will present their stories live from the field or in our brand-new, state-of-the-art studio. We focus on producing large market quality stories, while working in the family atmosphere of a small market. We work in a friendly community with a great pace of life and easy access to lots of outdoor beauty and recreation, all within quick reach of many large, metropolitan areas.

Responsibilities

Producing, reporting, shooting, writing, voicing and editing content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

Reporting news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events.

Arranging interviews with people who can provide information about stories.

Reviewing copy and correcting errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines.

Researching and analyzing background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information.

Pitching stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community.

Receiving assignments and evaluating leads and tips to develop story ideas.

Revising work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirements.

Shooting and editing news events and news reports.

Producing and presenting reports for all platforms.

Ensuring that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.

Writing stories for the web.

Performing special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience.

Fluency in English.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.

Superior on‑air presence.

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Flexibility to work any shift.
