Job Description

The Sr. Director of Sales will lead a team responsible for expanding the use of Visa Acceptance Solutions, delivering client relationship management and upsell opportunities to the installed client base. The role requires payments and fraud management experience in SaaS solution sales, with a value‑based sales approach. This function is part of the Value‑Added Services sales team, reporting to the NA Head of Direct Merchant Sales and working closely with Visa Merchant Sales, Sales Operations, Sales Engineering, Product Development, Solutions, Marketing and Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Exceed aggressive revenue targets for Acceptance Solutions Direct Merchant clients across North America.
  • Achieve quarterly revenue goals in partnership with cross‑functional Visa teams.
  • Lead a team of Relationship Managers focused on key client relationships and merchant portfolio growth.
  • Drive the sales cycle from prospecting to close, building a high‑value pipeline through cross‑sell and upsell.
  • Enable sales acceleration and prioritize high‑potential client targets, use cases, and industry segments.
  • Inform annual team goal planning and execution plans.
  • Align revenue attainment with the budgeted Annual Operating Plan.
  • Lead problem‑solving sessions and address client escalations to maintain growth‑focused engagement.
  • Ensure high performance, cohesiveness, and individual seller development.
  • Deploy resources for optimal growth across opportunities.
  • Maintain a collaborative, inclusive team environment and set clear direction aligned to corporate objectives.
  • Establish effective processes leveraging proven sales and relationship‑management methodologies.
  • Monitor progress and adjust activities to achieve results.
  • Partner with Product, Merchant Sales, Enablement, Marketing, Communications, Commercial Operations, Legal, Solutions Engineering, Delivery, and Services teams to drive go‑to‑market strategy, value proposition, incentives, contracting, product development, and implementation.
  • Develop sales strategy, target markets, use cases, and verticals; deploy resources for optimal growth.
  • Leverage market‑sizing studies and regional deep dives to identify high‑potential clients and use cases.
  • Communicate client feedback to inform product evolution.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ years of experience with an Advanced degree (Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • 10+ years of sales experience, including 3+ years of leading sales teams.
  • Experience in payments and fraud management within SaaS solution sales.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on delivering for clients.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, executive presence, ability to engage senior client executives.
  • Proven track record of developing, launching, and commercializing technology products.
  • Strategic sales leadership with ability to set overarching sales strategy.
  • Thought leadership and creativity in differentiating products with tangible business results.
  • Professionalism, leadership, and ability to build and maintain business relationships.
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12+ years with an Advanced Degree; PhD with 9+ years of experience.
  • Creative self‑starter with bias toward action.
  • Passionate about transforming payments and eager to work for an industry leader.
  • Ability to inspire direct reports and influence others without direct authority.
  • Strong team player, self‑motivated, able to work independently and coordinate across functions.

  • Travel: 30% (5‑10% of time).
  • Hybrid position; office days will be confirmed by Hiring Manager.
