Engine by Starling is a cloud-native SaaS core banking platform originally built to power Starling Bank. We are headquartered in London with offices in Dublin, Sydney, Dubai and a new East Coast HQ. We are looking for a Client Solutions Director to drive localisation and implementation of Engine in North America and help shape our product for the U.S. and Canadian markets.

About the role

The Client Solutions Director will lead client programmes from discovery through build and launch of new banks, tailoring our solution for the U.S. (priority) and Canada. This early-stage role works closely with the NA President, global Client Solutions leadership, Product Management and Engineering, and is based in the New York metropolitan area or Charlotte, NC, with national and international travel.

Responsibilities

General Management and day-to-day

  • Operate as a key part of the NA leadership team and contribute to establishing Engine in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
  • Maintain a global mindset, learning from and feeding back to the global product team.
  • Build strong relationships internally and with client and partner organizations, from discovery through implementation.
  • Stay abreast of product developments and innovations and apply them to the North American market.
  • Help grow the North American Client Solutions team.
  • Expect international travel to support a fast-growing, global team.
  • Participate in hands‑on Agile delivery while adapting methodologies to client needs.

Client Discovery & Delivery

  • Engage prospects for market feedback on product priorities; collaborate with Compliance to deliver a compliant product.
  • Work with product and engineering teams during discovery and implementation to agree on requirements.
  • Lead implementation programmes, using program management and product knowledge to ensure successful deployments.
  • Present clear and compelling solutions to clients.

Business Development

  • Support early-stage conversations, workshops and demos, identifying and qualifying opportunities.
  • Drive strategic client opportunities, support commercial and contractual conversations, prepare pitches, and participate in marketing activities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with implementation partners to drive joint business development and go‑to‑market strategies.

Requirements

Background

  • 5+ years in client-centric product roles in banking, consulting, or technology.
  • Experience in the U.S. banking sector and market-specific solutions.
  • Leadership of large-scale, complex programs in financial services.
  • Strong ability to understand client problems and present structured solutions.
  • Excitement for transforming banking in the U.S. and Canada with Engine.

Interview Process

  • Interview with Client Services team member.
  • Interview with additional Client Services members from NA and/or UK.
  • Final interview with Engine's North American President and a VP.
