Post Producer

Distant Moon, Multiple locations

Job type: Full Time

Distant Moon — Post Producer | Leesburg, VA
Distant Moon is an award-winning production company seeking a Post Producer to help lead and manage post-production projects across documentary, commercial, and narrative work from kickoff through final delivery.

This role is for someone who thrives in the organizational and communication side of the creative process — a producer who can keep projects moving, manage details without losing sight of the bigger picture, and help protect creative teams from unnecessary operational noise. We're looking for someone who can bring structure, follow-through, and strong communication into a fast-moving post-production environment while working closely with editors, directors, producers, and clients throughout the lifecycle of a project.

We care far more about good judgment, organization, communication skills, and the ability to keep projects running smoothly than checking every box on a résumé.

What You'll Do

Own assigned post-production projects from kickoff through final delivery

Serve as a primary point of contact for post-production communication, revisions, approvals, and delivery coordination

Translate creative direction and client feedback into clear, actionable notes for editors and post-production teams

Manage schedules, review cadence, budgets, project tracking, and overall post-production workflow across multiple projects

Coordinate communication and handoffs between editorial, sound, color, VFX, archival, legal, and delivery teams

Help maintain continuity between production and post-production teams throughout the lifecycle of projects

Manage archival, stock, music, licensing, and media asset workflows across projects, ensuring editors and post-production teams have organized, approved, and properly cleared materials throughout the editorial process

Support editors by sourcing, organizing, tracking, relinking, and maintaining project assets, archival materials, licensed media, and external deliverables across active productions

Reduce operational and administrative load on editors and creative leadership by owning project coordination, communication, approvals, and logistical follow-through

Maintain visibility on project health, delivery readiness, timelines, and evolving creative priorities while proactively identifying risks or bottlenecks

What We're Looking For

Approximately 4+ years of experience producing, coordinating, or managing creative projects across post-production, production, documentary, commercial, branded content, agency, digital media, YouTube/media, or related creative environments

Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple moving projects simultaneously

Strong understanding of creative production and post-production workflows including editorial, media management, approvals, delivery processes, and cross-functional coordination

Strong communication skills with the ability to manage client expectations and collaborate effectively across creative teams

High level of organization, follow-through, and attention to detail

Comfortable working inside fast-moving creative environments with shifting priorities and evolving timelines

Experience working within project management systems, production tracking workflows, or collaborative creative operations environments

Self-directed, dependable, and comfortable balancing both high-level project oversight and day-to-day production details

Exceptional organization, communication ability, and relevant creative industry experience may be considered in place of traditional post-production backgrounds.
