Job Summary
Madison’s most‑watched news station, WMTV, has an immediate opening for an evening anchor/reporter.

Responsibilities

Serve as a co‑anchor for the evening news at 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m., contributing to the quality and impact of both streaming and traditional content.

Serve as an ambassador for the station, championing community initiatives such as the WMTV Diaper Drive, Share Your Holidays campaign, and Take Your Brat To Work Day.

Mentionly lead by example—mentor other team members and drive innovative approaches to news coverage.

Deliver news with journalistic integrity, balancing speed and accuracy, and making ethical editorial calls.

Work nightside hours, including long hours, weekends, and overnights for breaking news and specialized coverage.

Carry and manage up to 35 pounds of gear and handle shooting and editing of unique content.

Operate as a “media Jeweler” (MMJ) when required; collaborate with photographers for appropriate assignments.

Qualifications

Minimum three years of newsroom experience.

College degree in journalism or related field.

Established and responsible digital presence on station website, social media, and streaming platforms.

Proficiency in AP Style on digital media and broadcast writing for television.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven news judgement, and the ability to exercise sound ethical judgment.

Strong work ethic, organizational, and leadership abilities.

Capacity to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and maintain composure during breaking news.

Informed about overnight and peak‑time duties and able to perform as required.
