SUMMARY
Develops and implements the North America Vinyls sales plan to achieve long and short‑term goals of optimizing price, actively stewarding market share and market position, and ensuring value creation aligns with allocation of resources and T&E budgets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the execution of domestic and international business strategies in the sales group to deliver success.
- Direct all sales aspects of the North American PVC business and export Chlorovinyls products for domestic, intercompany, and international channels for over 6B lbs. This includes contract development, negotiation, and execution, joint pricing responsibility, sales forecasting, strategic development, and customer intimacy.
- Guide, develop, and train sales personnel to maximize each seller’s potential. Identify key leadership talent and place into leadership roles to ensure a succession plan is in place for the team.
- Formulate, recommend, and implement strategic sales plans and marketing objectives to ensure the PVC/VCM strategic business unit delivers on both short‑and long‑term domestic and international objectives.
- Collaborate with Commercial Management, Customer Service, Technical Service, Logistics, Accounting, Credit, Legal, and Trade Compliance groups to support sales activities.
- Ensure sales staff develop annual plans that align short‑ and long‑term account objectives with the long‑range plan.
- Provide guidance to the team to ensure key objective alignment and that they have the necessary resources to be successful. Monitor overall sales activity and P&L to maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with business management to maximize product margins and direct the sales strategy for the territory.
- Develop and manage positive relationships with customers at all organizational levels.
- Represent Westlake in industry organizations, including the Vinyl Institute of Canada, PVC Pipe Association, Plastic Pipe & Fittings Association, Vinyl Siding Institute, and FGIA.
- In a highly competitive and mature marketplace, emphasize creativity by encouraging innovative selling and new ideas in the field sales organization.
- Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Fully support company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels, reviewing areas of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management and actively participate on project teams.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An MBA is desirable.
- Minimum 15 years of applicable sales experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated in‑depth knowledge of business and cultural practices, and related laws and regulations in the countries where we do business.
- Familiar with domestic and international finance, credit, distribution operations, U.S. import/export laws, and other related laws and regulations.
- Recognized as an expert in the PVC industry and can relate information back to the strategic direction of the division.
- Requires ability to travel by air or car (must maintain a clean driving record).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee frequently sits, stands, walks, uses hands to touch, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level is usually moderate and is normally based in an office. Some work may be required in operating units that require PPE (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection). The role may involve exposure to outside elements and stairs/elevators. Travel up to 70% including air travel or auto travel.
