The Replay Broadcast Engineer serves as a shift-based technical lead within the MLB Replay Operations Center (ROC). This role functions as the Engineer in Charge (EIC) during live game windows, ensuring the integrity of the Replay video and audio systems used by Major League Baseball. This is a full-time position based in our New York Operations Center.

Responsibilities

Act as the technical authority (EIC) for the Replay Operations Center during assigned game windows, serving as the escalation point for all technical faults

Oversee the verification of ballpark equipment, video servers, and communication lines prior to first pitch

Diagnose and resolve critical failures with video ingest and delivery, on-field communications, or data synchronization during live gameplay

Serve as the central communication hub between the ROC, remote Ballpark Video Technicians, and League Officials to ensure all stakeholders are aware of technical situations affecting gameplay

Responsible for over‑seeing support for many other On‑Field Technologies, including but not limited to ABS Video, Pace of Game Clocks and Umpire Communication hardware

Lead technical deployments for "Jewel Events" (Field of Dreams, International Series)

Responsible for the end‑to‑end lifecycle of remote replay systems: logistics planning, on‑site rack/stack, cabling, configuration, testing, and strike

Coordinate with venue infrastructure teams and mobile units to ensure seamless integration of replay resources

Technical Support leading up to and during Jewel games

Provide guidance and oversight to Junior Engineers and seasonal staff, ensuring daily tasks are completed to standard

Collaborate with the Director of Replay Technology to brainstorm, test, and implement new adjudication technologies (e.g., automated ball/strike systems, high‑frame‑rate cameras)

Contribute to R&D, testing, and implementation of new technology solutions into MLB and Replay Technology ecosystems

Contribute to support of critical documentation of signal flows, IP addresses, and incident reports to support post‑mortem analysis and future engineering projects

Qualifications & Skills

3-5 years of experience in broadcast engineering or live operations, with a focus on live sports or studio environments

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays during the Major League Baseball season as well as Post‑Season and Spring Training

Willingness to travel during the season for Remote Events or Ballpark visits (less than 10% of your schedule)

Strong knowledge of industry standard broadcast technologies including but not limited to the following: Video Codecs and standards; Experience with multi‑channel ingest servers (e.g., Hawk‑Eye, Evertz DreamCatcher, EVS) with a focus on synchronization and file management; Working knowledge of modern intercom matrices (Riedel, Clear‑Com, RTS) and SIP interfacing; PTZ camera operation and signal flows; General OS for both Windows and Mac OS; Strong understanding of multicast networking for video, VLAN management, and troubleshooting connectivity between remote sites (WAN); General knowledge of CAD and technical drawings

Ability to work well with others within a team environment and without direct supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Needs to be able to communicate issues and plans to many stakeholders throughout your shifts

Self‑motivated and highly organized

There will be many shifts where you are the Senior Engineer available making your ability to stay motivated and on top of tasks vital for this role

Quick, critical thinking and calm presence in volatile situations

Strong Time Management Skills, and the ability to multitask during high pressure situations

Salary Range
$80,000 - $92,500 (Base Salary) + Bonus
