CBIF Venture Team & Venture Capital Managing Director – Healthcare/Biosciences
We are hiring a CBIF Venture Team member to support our active, high‑tech bioscience portfolio. This role offers a unique, hands‑on venture capital experience in an innovative, collaborative work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion. The position is based at Connecticut Innovations’ headquarters in New Haven, CT. Connecticut residency is required; out‑of‑state candidates must relocate prior to start.

Responsibilities

Role combines investment origination, deal execution and portfolio company management

Prospect for new investment opportunities

Conduct market, product and competitive analysis on each potential investment

Perform financial modeling and valuation analysis; collaborate with CBIF team and negotiate deal terms

Prepare reports and proposals regarding potential investments and portfolio companies

Present investments for approval to CI advisory committees and the CI Board of Directors

Assist in identifying strategic, marketing and partnering opportunities for portfolio companies

Role Requirements

Master’s or higher degree in business or science; minimum undergraduate degree in biosciences strongly preferred

10+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or corporate development (or equivalent) within a pharmaceutical, biosciences/life sciences, or healthcare company

Experience in investment origination, due diligence, deal execution and portfolio company management

Experience conducting market, product, competitive and valuation analysis in the biosciences, life sciences, or healthcare industries

Startup or growth experience in a venture‑backed company highly valued, especially as a founder

Knowledge of financial statements, business plans, financial and legal documents

Strong oral and written communication skills
