Job Overview
As an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Operations Technician II,III, you will work with a team of safety‑focused technicians to maximize equipment reliability and availability. Mentoring teammates, troubleshooting, solving sophisticated problems efficiently, and attention to detail are keys to success in this role.

Day in the Life
You will be at the heart of natural gas facility operations, supporting pipeline systems by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment. Your role involves programming and controls tasks, performing calibrations and inspections to ensure accuracy, and executing field upgrades and rewiring projects. You’ll interpret technical documentation such as schematics and P&IDs, collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Support teams, and third‑party contractors, and directly enhance equipment reliability and availability across our pipeline network.

Responsibilities / Expectations

Performs complex maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process related equipment and systems

Familiarity with Rosemount Transmitters by Emerson, especially in the domains of pressure, temperature, and flow metrics

Proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

Solid understanding of 480V electrical switchgear components and their functions

Practical experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

Fundamental knowledge of CAT engines and Ariel compressors and their maintenance

Proven problem‑solving capabilities and a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and equipment maintenance

An eagerness for continuous learning and adapting to evolving technologies

Minimizes unplanned shutdowns through root‑cause analyses and implementing corrective actions with a focus on improving safety

Fixes and maintains process control systems

Partners with project managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects

Other duties as assigned

Education / Years of Experience

Required: High School Diploma/GED and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician or similar role, including one (1) year experience as an I&E Technician

Preferred: Associates or 2‑year technical degree and minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Operations Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry

Physical and Environment Work Requirements

Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises, and in enclosed spaces

Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team‑lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed

Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time

Work at elevated levels, potentially from man‑lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)

Use hand tools

Shift / Work Hours / Travel Requirements

Available to work after hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as the need arises

May be required to work overtime, 10–12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays

Examples of rotating shifts include the following:
• Weekends: 7 pm‑7 am and Thurs. and Fri. 3 pm‑11 pm
• Weekends: 7 am‑7 pm and Mon. and Tues. 3 pm‑11 pm
• Mon.‑Fri.: 7 am‑3 pm, 3 pm‑11 pm, 11 pm‑7 am

Other Requirements

Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record

Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes

Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority

Needs basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and PC skills

Previous experience working in an environment with gas‑plant operations, gas compression and/or liquid or gas gathering processes

Previous experience in the mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry

Hourly / Salary Guidelines
Minimum: $34 ‑ Midpoint: $45 ‑ Maximum: $60
