Junior Video Editor Richmond, CA

Skycar Creative, Richmond, CA, USA

Pay: 60.000 - 80.000

Job type: Freelance

We're looking for an organized, eager, and talented Junior Video Editor to join our creative team in Point Richmond, CA. You'll work closely with our producers, editors, and animators to help bring projects from ingest, to rough assembly, and through final delivery. The best candidate has sharp technical chops, a genuine eye for storytelling, and the kind of low-ego collaborative spirit that makes the whole process (and final output) better.
We tell stories for brands like Adobe, HPE, and Anthropic and they all require both technical precision and creative taste in equal measure. If you're someone who watches a rough cut and immediately feels where it needs to breathe (or where it's dragging), you'll fit right in.
This is a full-time hybrid position that requires you to join us (in-person!) in Point Richmond for three days out of the week.
What you'll be doing

Apply best-practice assistant editor techniques: ingesting and organizing media, syncing audio, managing proxies, and maintaining clean, well-labeled project structures
Cut and assemble footage across commercial, documentary, and brand projects under the guidance of our lead editor
Handle music search and editing, sound design, color correction, and export across a range of deliverable formats
Collaborate daily with editors, animators, and producers in a fast-paced, highly creative studio environment
Manage media organization, file naming, and long-term project archiving including LTO tape backups
Jump in wherever needed. Skycar is a small team and we all wear a few extra hats
Who you are

1–3 years of video editing experience (agency, production company, or freelance)
Strong command of Premiere Pro and Frame.io – familiarity with the broader Adobe Creative Suite
Meticulous and tidy! You know how a project should be organized before a single cut is made, and you care deeply about keeping it that way
A portfolio that shows range: pacing, storytelling, and a diversity in content
Sharp attention to detail (did the LUT change a tiny bit at 11:07?)
A collaborative mindset and the ability to take and give feedback graciously
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing your cool (or your files!)
Nice to have

Experience with Adobe After Effects
Technical aptitude with workstations and IT
Some experience with archiving footage and data
Dog-friendly - dogs often hang around here!
