Primary Purpose
Hawaii Baptist Academy is seeking an experienced, creative, and self‑motivated visual storyteller to serve as our full‑time Visual Media Producer. This position plays a key role in capturing and communicating the life, mission, and impact of HBA through compelling photography and video content.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about storytelling through visual media. They are skilled in production setup, filming, photography, editing, lighting, audio, and post‑production, while also bringing creative ideas and energy to the table. This person should be able to execute a creative vision with excellence while also contributing fresh concepts and innovative approaches to content creation.

Content Production
This role produces a wide variety of content including:

Social media reels and short‑form content

Event highlight videos

Testimonial and interview videos

Promotional and admissions marketing content

Training and instructional videos

Community and culture storytelling pieces

President and leadership messaging

Presentation recording support as needed

The Visual Media Producer will regularly interact with students, faculty/staff, families, alumni, donors, community partners, and school leadership, including the President’s Office. Professionalism, warmth, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Essential Duties / Functions

Capture and produce high‑quality photography and video content across HBA campuses, events, programs, and community initiatives

Create and edit engaging multimedia content including social media reels, promotional videos, testimonial stories, training videos, and event highlights

Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Public Relations to identify, develop, and visually communicate meaningful stories that support HBA’s mission, culture, admissions, marketing, and public relations efforts

Manage all aspects of media production including camera setup, lighting, audio, filming logistics, and editing

Manage and coordinate the event coverage calendar, filming schedules, and interview coordination for photography and video needs across campuses

Professionally interact with students, families, faculty/staff, alumni, donors, leadership, and community partners while helping subjects feel comfortable and engaged on camera

Other Duties / Functions

Maintain and organize media equipment, digital asset libraries, and project archives

Assist in managing HBA’s YouTube channel and social media platforms

Provide photography and video support for yearbook and other internal departments as needed

Stay current with evolving industry trends, storytelling techniques, and digital media platforms

Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

Equipment & Software Use: Professional cameras and lenses, video/audio equipment, lighting equipment, drones (if certified), gimbals, teleprompters, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects preferred), YouTube, social media platforms, and other media‑related tools.

Work Hours: Generally Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with flexibility required for select evening and weekend events, productions, and school activities throughout the year.

Mental Demands: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work under deadlines, adapt quickly in live event settings, problem‑solve creatively, and maintain attention to detail while capturing the broader vision and mission of HBA.

Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, move and transport production equipment, travel between campuses, and attend school events and field trips as needed.

Social Demands: Ability to communicate professionally and warmly with students, families, faculty/staff, donors, alumni, and leadership. Ability to receive feedback positively and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Spiritual: Must demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ as described in “The Baptist Faith and Message”, the tenets of the Southern Baptist denomination.

Skills / Knowledge:
Strong photography, videography, and editing skills

Experience with cinematic storytelling and short‑form social media content

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent editing software

Understanding of lighting, audio, composition, and production workflow

Strong organizational and communication skills

Works independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment

Ability to creatively adapt content for different audiences and platforms

Experience:
3+ years of experience in videography, photography, media production, or digital storytelling preferred

Ability to create engaging social media and marketing content

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of people and age groups

Relevant education or equivalent professional experience in media production, communications, or a related field preferred

Educational, nonprofit, ministry, or community‑based experience is a plus
