USTA Northern is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and one of 17 Sections within the United States Tennis Association. Dedicated to promoting and expanding the sport of tennis, USTA Northern serves communities in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Northwestern Wisconsin. Through innovative programs and initiatives, USTA Northern works to foster widespread participation and encourage inclusion within the sport. By aligning with its mission, the organization positively impacts players of all ages and abilities.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time hybrid role located in Eagan, MN. This role assists USTA Northern in its mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis through effective communications and marketing initiatives. The focus of this position will include content management, social media strategy and delivery, marketing resources refinement, and development of storytelling. This role requires work in partnership with USTA National and other partners to reach the strategic goals of USTA Northern.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute a coordinated external communications plan that supports USTA Northern's strategic priorities and enhances its image.

Conceptualize, plan, write, edit, and design the USTA Northern Yearbook (annually), e-blasts, and website.

Oversee USTA Northern website and social media channels, ensuring that customers can find and engage with relevant content.

Manage the USTA Northern social media channels (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn), lead the content strategy calendar, creation/editing, and scheduling of content.

Collaborate and partner closely with all staff to support efforts that drive awareness of USTA Northern programs, services, and impact.

Create promotional collateral for USTA Northern programs and development efforts.

Identify opportunities to advertise and promote USTA Northern programs & services (i.e., vendor booths, advertising, PSA’s, events).

Leverage USTA National marketing tools and resources, while protecting brand integrity, to bring to life our marketing and communications efforts (i.e., website, logos, Tableau).

Create graphic design materials for marketing collateral and projects.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Website Traffic and Engagement.Metrics: Website traffic, bounce rate, time spent on site, and specific page views. Measurement tools: Google Analytics, website analytics software

Social media Engagement.Metrics: Likes, shares, comments, follows, and social media reach. Measurement tools:Social media analytics tools.

Timely execution of all section communications.

Quality of communications (writing, copy editing, coverage, photography, and videography)

Fulfill annual performance goals (individual and team).

Brand Awareness.Metrics: Brand mentions, reach, and recognition.Measurement tools: Surveys, social media analytics, and media monitoring tools.

E-newsletter engagement: Increase subscriptions and open rates

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
USTA Northern staff, board members, committee members, and project volunteers, USTA National staff (Marketing & Communications).

EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Media Partners, Community Program Providers, Tennis Industry Professionals, USTA Members and Donors, Corporate Sponsors.

TRAVEL DEMANDS:
Required – Meetings and events throughout the Northern section (MN, ND, SD, and western WI) as needed.

Possible – National travel to USTA meetings and conferences as budget allows.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or similar experience in a related field, preferably with exposure to content management and digital media-related disciplines.

Ability to think creatively and develop innovative marketing and communication campaigns. Willingness to explore new ideas and approaches to engage the target audience effectively.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create clear, compelling, and persuasive communications for different audiences, including internal teams, USTA membership, and the public.

Experience in brand development and management, including understanding brand guidelines, brand positioning, and implementing cohesive branding across various channels.

Experience with graphic design

Ability to adapt to changing market trends, technologies, and business requirements. Willingness to learn and upgrade skills continuously.

Familiarity with marketing and communication software tools, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and other relevant technologies.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, vendors, and key stakeholders.

Proficiency in digital marketing techniques, including social media marketing, email marketing, content marketing, SEO, SEM, and analytics.

Knowledge of USTA programs and tennis background preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Environmental conditions of outdoor events/work environments may vary, i.e., low/high temperatures.
