Video Management System Administrator
Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Video Management System Administrator with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12‑month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay
$37.00 - $42.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA‑compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Description
The Avigilon Client Video Management System (VMS) Administrator / Programmer is responsible for the deployment, configuration, integration, and ongoing administration of Avigilon Client 7 video management systems and Avigilon and/or Axis IP cameras within a corporate enterprise environment. This role ensures reliable system performance, proper video storage management, system security, and compliance with enterprise IT and physical security standards. The administrator will serve as the technical expert for the VMS environment and provide support to end users, security staff, and IT stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy, configure, and administer Avigilon Client 7/8 NVR servers and clients

Install, configure, and maintain Avigilon and Axis IP cameras, including firmware updates and ONVIF integration

Manage and monitor system health, storage allocation, and performance across multiple servers and sites

Configure and support video analytics, recording rules, alarms, detection/exclusion zones, and alerting

Maintain and administer NVR Active Directory integration, user roles, access rights, and security permissions as needed

Apply corporate guidelines, job aids, programming workbooks, and tracking sheets for all deployments

Provide troubleshooting support for cameras, servers, storage, and network‑related video issues

Document system configurations, deployment events, and tracking documents as needed

Collaborate with IT, Security, and vendor partners for system integration with access control, intercom, PSIM, SIP/IP audio systems

Manage licensing, vendor support cases, and system upgrades for Avigilon Client

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices (patching, secure remote access, TLS certificates, password policy enforcement)

Provide support for evidence export, chain of custody documentation, and audit requirements

Required Qualifications

Experience operating in a corporate enterprise environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 11

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word strongly required)

Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams

Proficiency with Remote Desktop administration

Knowledge of Active Directory and related cloud applications (Azure AD, Office 365, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN fundamentals

Basic understanding of network firewalls, NAT, and IP routing

Experience with PoE switch configuration, VLANs, and QoS for video traffic

Experience with IP camera setup and configuration (Avigilon and Axis)

Familiarity with Category and fiber optic cabling standards (termination, labeling, testing)

Knowledge of IP video fundamentals (H.264/H.265, frame rates, resolution, bitrate/storage impact)

Experience with NVR setup/configuration, including storage provisioning and RAID

Knowledge of Avigilon Client 7 architecture and deployment best practices

Familiarity with Axis Camera Station or Axis device configurations

Knowledge of third‑party integrations (access control, intercoms, SIP/IP speakers, alarms)

Understanding of data retention policies, video export formats, and evidence handling

Experience with cybersecurity best practices for VMS environments

Ability to create documentation, SOPs, and training materials for security staff and IT stakeholders

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
